Meet Wayne Harris
I would like to introduce myself, my name is Wayne Harris, IOM. With 15 years as a chamber of commerce Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer, I dealt with numerous issues that impact growth of a chamber related to; membership, revenue generation, event organization and so much more. I consulted with numerous chamber directors across the country to address these issues, that impacted us all. In leaving the chamber leadership role I decided to pursue a new role, supporting the industry and providing resources that I felt were sorely needed. That’s how I ended up with the Harris Chamber Team. A publishing house that focuses on revenue generation for the chamber above all else. My new role allows me to assist chambers across the nation to prosper through various fundraising options, services I wish were at my disposal when I was a chamber director.
My Background
From 2000 to 2015 I proudly spent 15 years as the Executive Director of the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce. I helped shape the chamber and our community as it grew, prospered and became a force to be reckoned with.
The chamber grew from less than 200 to over 700 members, and our wonderful community also prospered, significantly.
The challenge of running a chamber is exciting, always busy, and always purposeful. I’m proud of my time at the chamber. I’m proud of the success of our membership, our new, 5,000 square foot beautiful and high-tech building that has no mortgage.
I am proud of the many officers and directors that mentored me, and I helped mentor. The one thing that has always stuck in my mind by those that I felt were great leaders always had the belief it’s the responsibility of those in charge to “always leave an organization better than you found it.”
Prior to the Crestview Chamber, I served 27 years before retiring from the US Air Force. Along with serving my county as a twice elected Okaloosa County Board of county commissioners, serving from 2008 – 2016, including as chairman during the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.
My passion has always been to build, strengthen, and grow your chamber of commerce.
